NOAA-17 Solar Array Move on 29 January May Cause Data Shifts > ================================================= Instrument(s) Involved: All instruments Product(s) Involved/Affected: All Products Date/Time(UTC) of Initial Implementation: 29 January 2004, Time 1600 UTC Details/Specifics of Change: On January 29, NOAA will change the NOAA-17 solar array offset from -35 to -40 degrees. This change is to reduce the excess power unused due to the AMSU-A1 failure. Minimal impact to the spacecraft bus due to this change is expected. N17's sun angle is high enough that the array does not cast a shadow on the bus, so there should be no thermal changes as a result of the offset adjustment. This change will occur on orbit number 8306. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted to the NOAASIS 1200 UTC, 28 January 2004
