LRIT/WEFAX time share is now active on GOES East, 7 October 2003

At 00:00 UTC on 7 October 2003, NOAA began full time share operations of
Weather Facsimile (WEFAX) and Low Rate Information Transmission (LRIT) on 
the WEFAX transponder of GOES East. Every hour there will be 31 minutes of 
WEFAX, starting at xx:14, and 29 minutes of LRIT, starting at xx:45. This transition 
phase will last approximately 12 months, at which point WEFAX will be eliminated 
from the GOES East and LRIT will operate continuously.
