NOAA Operational Satellites
GOES-15 continues as the GOES-West operational spacecraft and GOES-13 continues as the GOES-East operational spacecraft.
GOES-12, at 60° W, was decommissioned August 16, 2013. OSPO continues support for the Caribbean and South America via a new GOES-East rapid scanning strategy. During the Rapid scan operations, two additional South America sectors ( Central (SAC) and South (SAS) ) were added to support direct readout users in South America.
METOP-B and NOAA-19 are classified as the NOAA Polar operational satellites. GOES-15 (West) and GOES-13 (East) are classified as the NOAA geostationary operational satellites.
