Satellite Status Information

NOAA Operational Satellites

METOP-A and NOAA-19 are classified as the NOAA Polar operational satellites. GOES-11 (West) and GOES-12 (East) are classified as the NOAA geostationary satellites. GOES-10 (South) which has been fulfilling the South American mission was decommissioned December 1, 2009.

Upcoming GOES changes:  GOES-13 will be taken out of storage on January 19, 2010. It will begin executing a GOES-East schedule on January 25, 2010. GOES-13 will be drifted to 75W at that time. GOES-13 will become GOES-East on April 14, 2010. GOES-12 will be taken out of GOES-East ops on April 14, 2010. GOES-12 will be moved to 60W to operate as GOES-South America by May 11, 2010.
